This painting started with carefully painted bands of pattern, with no particular goal in mind. Soon that became tiresome and I covered the whole canvas with a layer of black decalcomania. The colorful bands were still visible and began to suggest snaky hair on a half-turned away woman. So I developed the Medusa who had appeared.
